Network

Client and Server

Immersive Calibration PRO is deployed and runs in a client/server manner. Client(s) and the server can run on the same or different PC(s).

An instance of Client must be started on each PC connected to one or more projectors. The client listens on network commands from the Server and controls the projectors output.

Ony one instance of the Client must be started. Server can run on a separate PC or on an PC running the client. However, the Server requires one GPU output which is connected to a monitor and which is not controlled by the Client.

The Server and the Client PCs must be connected on the same LAN network. Although a wireless connection can be used, we strongly recommend a wired connection.

To ensure that Calibration PRO runs efficiently across a network setup with one or more client nodes, the following network requirements are recommended:

  • Network Speed: A minimum of 1 GB/s network speed is necessary for fluent operation.
  • IPv4 Network configuration: Fixed IPs should be assigned to each node within the network to maintain stable connections and facilitate seamless communication between the Server and Client PC(s).

Note

Ensure that DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol) is not used for IP configuration.

Manual IP assignment is preferred for network stability and connectivity in Immersive Calibration PRO.

Auto discovery with Bonjour

By default, Immersive Calibration PRO uses Bonjour.

In order to automatically recognize and connect the Client and the Server PCs on the network, the Bonjour zero-configuration service is used. For this purpose, the Bonjour service needs to be installed on both the Client and the Server PCs.

From the Immersive Calibration PRO locate and double click on the INSTALL_FIRST_BONJOUR.bat script. This will start the installation of Bonjour.

Bonjour

This installation step is needed only once and should be performed only for the first time Immersive Calibration PRO is used on the PC. Follow the installation steps of Bonjour install script and finish the installation.

Direct server discovery

For environment when Bonjour is not available or when the network firewall settings do nto allow Bonjour traffic, Immersive Calibration PRO allows an alternative discovery method.

The Direct server discovery allows a manual configuration of the Client and Server network settings, so that the Clients will automatically connect to the Server. In this discovery method, the Server si configured to listen on a IP address and port, and the Clients are configured to connect to the Server IP address and port.
