Prepare
Proper preparation and setup are crucial for achieving perfect auto-alignment and edge-blending. An optimal projection setup involves positioning the projectors correctly for overlap and overshoot and marking the screen properly.
For this projection and auto-alignment setup, we will use a partial-dome projection screen with three projectors and three web cameras.
The three projectors are connected to a client PC's graphics card. All three outputs are grouped as a 3x1 2D Surround.
Refer to the network information for instructions on setting up the client and server PC network.
Projection setup
Plan and evaluate your projection setup before you decide on the screen shape and size and on the projection types and lenses. A badly designed projection setup might lead to large pixel loss (caused by overshot or overlap), large image stretching and blurred pixels.
Tip
Use our Immersive Designer PRO software to design and verify your projection setup.
This is a must have software for accurate design and verification of a projection setup before building the actual setup with projection screen and projectors..

Screen markers
Divide the screen edges into equidistant rows and columns. Place visible markers on the screen edge to indicate these rows and columns, ensuring they are clearly visible in the camera views. For reference, label each marker with the corresponding row or column number.
Screen markers
These markers will be used only during the definition of the camera views and the mapping of the screen in the camera views. Once this process is complete, the markers can be removed.
Tip: Permanent markers
Permanent markers can also be used. Small paper stickers or a permanent marker can be utilized to mark the screen edges permanently. As long as these markers are not visible after the auto-alignment process, they can remain in place permanently.
Client PC displays
The client PC is equipped with a NVidia GPU with 3 outputs. For the purpose of this auto-alignment, all 3 outputs are grouped as a single wide 3x1 2D Surround display. The total results of the display is 3 x (1920x1080) = 5760x1080
pixels.
