Dynamic Black Offset Correction without masks

Immersive Calibration PRO offers a robust solution for dynamic black offset correction. This functionality intelligently increases the brightness of non-overlapping areas to visually match the brightness of the overlapped regions during dark scenes, while preserving the high dynamic range when projecting brighter content.

Enabling Dynamic Black Offset

To enable and configure dynamic black offset correction, follow these steps:

  1. Calculate Warping and Edge Blending: Begin by calculating the warping and edge blending parameters for a typical bright scene. Adjust the edge blending parameters to achieve optimal performance for these brighter scenes.
  2. Access Black Offset Tab: Once the initial calibration is complete, navigate to the Black offset tab within Immersive Calibration PRO.

Configuration Procedure

  1. Select a Non-Overlapping Area: In the black offset overview, select a screen area that does not receive light from overlapping projectors. Enable black offset correction specifically for this area.

  2. Display a Dark Image: Display a dark image on your projection system. If a suitable dark image is unavailable, use a bright image and carefully monitor the brightness slider.

  3. Adjust Uplift: The objective is to increase the "uplift" value until the brightness of the selected non-overlapping area visually matches the brightness of the adjacent overlapping area.

  4. Repeat: Repeat this process for all screen surfaces that appear darker than the overlapping areas.

Important Considerations

Moderate Correction

This dynamic black offset correction is designed to effectively compensate for moderate projector black offset characteristics.

Optimal Performance

For the best edge blending performance, particularly for dark scenes, it is highly recommended to use high-quality projectors with minimal inherent black offset and high contrast ratios. Additionally, utilizing a projection screen surface with low gain (e.g., gain = 0.6) can further enhance the overall image quality and minimize the perception of black offset.
